There are a whopping 800 keys.

A “key” is a small low-elevation island above a coral reef. The Florida Keys are comprised of 800 of these island, some bigger than others.

The longest key is Key Largo.

Located just north of Islamorada is Key Largo, stretching over 30 miles long and 0.5 miles wide.

Tequesta and Calusa Native Americans were the first inhabitants.
